Shonda Rhimes becomes third black woman in the TV Hall of Fame

October 17, 2017 - On Thursday, Shonda Rhimes was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame, making her the third black woman to receive this honor. The first was Oprah Winfrey, who was inducted in 1993, and the second was Diahann Carroll, who was inducted in 2011. “All of these individuals are innovators who have shaped television and left an indelible mark on the medium and our culture,” TV Academy chairman and C.E.O.
