Florida House Approves Mary McLeod Bethune Statue In U.S. Capitol Statuary Hall

February 26, 2018 - By a vote of 111-1 on Tuesday afternoon, February 20, 2018, the Florida House approved HB 139 to place a statue of Mary McLeod Bethune in U.S. Capitol's Statuary Hall. "More than 14,000 graduates and countless others have benefited from the measure and manifestation of 'the answered prayer of a dream' of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, to provide an education for African Americans and others which has and continues to transform the fabric of this country from hatred and division to cooperation and brotherhood.
