Defund the Police, Invest in Our Communities #defundthepolice

St Pete Police is 41% of the city’s current budget. Much of what the police do could be taken care of with mental health professionals, health experts and social workers. Redirecting these services away from being administered by armed officers and towards professionals would not only be safer for everyone involved, it would save money for our community by addressing issues particularly related to poverty rather than simply managing them.
